• The CASHS German Club  (Deutschklub) meets on average once per month.  The purpose of the CASHS German Club is to fuse language learning with cultural enrichment and to provide a venue in which all German students, regardless of level and teacher, can meet to exchange ideas and get to know one another.

Annual events and activities are listed chronologically below:

*Late September: Inaugural German Club meeting- Officers are elected

*Early October: The German Club puts together a float for the Homecoming parade. Typically the theme revolves around an Alpine backdrop with students dressed in garb related to German regions, culture and/or history.

*Late October: The German Club celebrates Oktoberfest. Students contribute authentic food and drinks based on German recipes. Traditional Bavarian music is featured, along with customary Oktoberfest dances and chants.

*Early November: The first of two inter-club soccer games is played on Trojan stadium. The long-running rivalry between Deutschklub and the Spanish Club keeps players motivated and fans enthused.

*Mid December: The German Club meets and learns about German Christmas traditions, including Niklaustag, Heiliger Abend and Silvester. Typically German classes combine on the day before Christmas vacation, at which point they travel through the hallways of the school singing Christmas carols in German.

*February: Karneval is celebrated; students wear traditional "Fasching" masks and costumes. The history of Karneval and its regional variations are the focal point of this cultural meeting.

*Color Day in May: The German Club offers snow cones, popcorn and "Brezen" (pretzels) at the German Club table during the Club Fair portion of Color Day. Proceeds go toward all German Club activities.

*Late May: The second game of the inter-club soccer league takes place. Typically a team is determined to repeat its victory, with the opponent set on fighting to win back the trophy.
