    Mr. D. Miller:

    • The 2022-2023 school year is my TWENTY-THIRD in the teaching profession. I was employed full-time at Central  Dauphin High School before coming to Chambersburg
    • I have previously served as the head coach of the Chambersburg girls' swimming team from 2002-2021.
    • I am the advisor for the local chapter of Mu Alpha Theta.
    • I have also worked as an adjunct professor of mathematics for the Harrisburg Area Community College.
    • The math courses I've instructed at CASHS range from Applied Math to Pre-Calculus and AP Statistics.
    • For the 2022-2023 CASHS school year specifically, I am teaching Geometry, Honors' Geometry, Pre-Calculus and AP Statistics.
    • I have a bachelor's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education, a master's degree in Educational Administration and I've completed more than 30 post graduate credits in the areas of Mathematics and Education.
    • My general teaching philosophy involves "Relevance, Rigor, & Relationships."
    • My adaptation of this philosophy includes making students accountable within my course outline and, as such, establishing unmistakable timelines and rubrics within their assessment strategies. My assessment deadlines are concrete (w/ limited credit for late work), in order to help the students develop their own sense of academic responsibilities as a prelude to the action/consequence decisions we all face every day in life.
    • My goal is to help students develop their own logic skills by urging (and modeling) creative thinking while emphasizing ACCURACY AND EFFICIENCY.
    • My intention is that students will develop strategies and routines to be successful; that by the end of our course, they will learn HOW to work through problems and communicate effectively.
    • I may be contacted by email using the "contact" toggle on the left of our screen or by telephone through the high school office at (717) 261-3322.
